About Disability Tech
Disability Tech brings together stakeholders and develops digital solutions that improve the quality of life for people with disabilities.
New digital solutions for people with visible or hidden disabilities
Although technology, particularly artificial intelligence, has made great strides, people with disabilities still face significant barriers and limitations in accessing new assistive technologies and solutions that are crucial to their quality of life and their participation in communities and working life.
AI has already demonstrated impressive results in the fields of communication support, mobility aids, care and social integration. Nevertheless, the potential for utilising these technologies across sectors and countries is still far from being realised.
Disability Tech is an ambitious project focused on developing and implementing digital solutions designed to improve inclusion and quality of life for people with disabilities, as well as to raise skill levels and identify needs and barriers relating to the use of new technologies.
Working together towards a more inclusive future
Disability Tech brings together disability and patient organisations, start-ups, research institutions and international stakeholders in a unique collaboration to promote technological inclusion.

The story behind the collaboration
Disability Tech originated from a conference on AI and social innovation in February 2024, organised by the ADD project. The focus here was on the growing need to address the challenges faced by people with disabilities in a technological landscape where AI has the potential to be a major enabler of greater participation in society.
A population survey carried out by Mandag Morgen indicates that the target group of people with disabilities has a particular interest in how new technologies such as AI can assist them in their daily lives.
We have developed a multi-track project in which each of the four tracks – target group, innovation, policy and knowledge – contributes to a comprehensive solution. Within and across these tracks, the project aims to generate knowledge, dialogue, collaboration, awareness and new solutions across different stakeholders. In addition, an annual Innovation Summit with national and international participants will take stock of the joint work on new digital solutions.
The solutions of the future require shared knowledge
Disability Tech focuses on influencing the framework for developing and implementing digital solutions that enhance inclusion, quality of life and opportunities for participation for people with disabilities.
These reports represent the first steps towards building a shared knowledge base to inform the work towards this vision. The field of disability tech is only just beginning to develop in Denmark, but holds great potential for improving quality of life and opportunities for participation. To realise this potential, cross-sector collaboration and an understanding of the challenges and solutions are crucial.
